ESAD Blog Hop Favourites from 2017-18 Annual Stampin’ Up! Catalogue

Welcome to Another ESAD Blog Hop! This time we are hopping with our Favourites from the 2017/2018 Annual Stampin’ Up! Catalogue!!!

If you have just started the Hop you will have started with me or you might have hopped on from Carly Middleton.. Please make sure you continue to hop to  Nicole Wilson’s  blog and share some love with some comments on each! So Grab yourself a Wine…. and enjoy and see what all our favourite things are!

So where do I start? I knew I wanted to use the Embossing Paste! That was one of the first things I wanted! and the brick mask went so well with the brick building at Ronald McDonald House in Parkville Melbourne! Then next I had to have the Flirty Flowers Stamp set! Now this set is one that I saw in backgrounds at Sydney & Perth Onstage when I was looking at photo’s wishing I was there! Not sure what has drawn me to this set but I love it! I had to show you how you could use it for the background in a scrapbook layout! and using the watercolor pencils it was a quick and easy page to make!
I even added some hidden journalling so that it wouldn’t take away anything from the layout and I just used our Form Adhesive strips to make a pocket behind the photo to slide it in. This was a photo from our recent trip from Dalby, Queensland to Melbourne, Victoria for Luke’s second Brain Surgery Testing. Now we just have to wait to find out when they plan to do the surgery…

Thanks for hopping by.. Please make sure you share some love by leaving a quick comment then hop on to Nicole Wilson‘s blog!

Onstage Display Board Application

If you had of asked me 5 years ago if I would Volunteer to demonstrate in front of more then 100 ladies the answer would of been no..

October the 17th is my 5 year anniversary with Stampin’ Up! And what a busy 5 years it has been! Not only with my business but personally. The past 1.5 years I have really stepped up my business said of Stampin’ Up! and I really love what I do. I have a lot of things in the pipeline also.

I have a fantastic team and great customers who have all become my friends personally.

So I had been thinking many times when I have attended onstage how cool it would be to present to other demonstrators… I’m pretty good at craft… I love to talk to everyone… so why not put the two together?

We were asked to make 3 cards, a scrapbook layout and 2 3D items… Do you know how hard it is to come up with something 3D that hasn’t already been done??? We have so many creative people in this world it just blows my mind…. so I decided to go back to what I love and work from there.

I really wanted to show case what you could do with our new Memories and More Packs and How much do I love the Perfect Days Pack… I will need to buy another I think..

Why used it just on its own…. CHOP IT UP!

Above I have used it with the Stitched Framelits, Eclectic Layers Thinlits and stamp set and also the “A Little Thanks” from the One Big Meaning stamp set. I love Emerald Envy, Tranquil Tide and Lemon Lime Twist with Whisper White and Basic Black! Oh and I also added a hint of Night of Navy!

Oh with this card… do I love this card!!! I never know what to do with the gems background… but I think I did it justice! Double cutting the Happy Birthday Thinlit with Soft Sky cardstock and Night of Navy and using our mini dimensionals to pop it up! Ive also used up the cut offs I had from my Memories and More cards… to add more layers to my card… Don’t be afraid to keep these.. I store them in a cellophane bag with my cards. I have also popped all my Memories and More cards into our Full Woodmount cases.. I will share this in another blog post but. When I bought the Happy Birthday Thinlit I also got the bundle with the stamp set. How easy is this 2 step stamping when you use Photopolymer! These flowers and leaves where just fussy cut and didn’t take much time at all!

What do you do with a card that has big words on it? If I was using it in my Memories and More pages I would use this card as a Title card… you could just slip it in and done… But I like to take it one step further… chop it, layer it.. even stamp on it!

I’m more a traditional Scrapbooker.. But I do love these pocket pages. They can be very quick or you can be as creative as you like….  here I have used multiply cards from the Perfect Days Pack! I’m yet to journal. Get creative with your cards…. use each pocket as your own mini blank canvas.. put as many or as little photo’s and journalling as you like. You can even make your pockets bulky and add hidden journalling to it.

I love the stitched framelits to be used in my scrapbooking. It can add dimension without a lot of bulk! If you haven’t already go them why not? Now if you have invested in the Large Letters Framelits and are not using them… Pull them out and start!! These are beautiful framelits and used with the stamps add more dimension!

So for my first 3D item. I have made a little desk top notebook holder with Post-it Notes and a little mini calendar. I say desk top because it isn’t strong enough for my handbag! If I was to change this I would cover heavy cardboard.. You know the stuff we have that comes with all our DSP? Don’t throw it away!!! Recycle it! Anyway.. I could give you dimensions of this but it really is dependant on what size note book and post-it notes you use… you can even add more space and pop a pen holder too.

I’ve used the new Crinkle Seam Binding Ribbon to tie it up.

Why not add strength and colour to the back with another card.. it also hides the ribbon that is stuck on the back.

And lastly.. for my last 3D item…. Why not decorate a Notebook? These are great presents for teachers, work colleges, friends etc! They can be very personalised also.. I’ve used the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper because I found it had similar colours to the Perfect Days pack! I’ve also stamped on the Memories and more card using the Oh So Eclectic Stamps and the new Playful Backgrounds set!

I hope my projects have inspired you to create this weekend. Why not print out some photo’s from an event and just enjoy creating your own little pages with your Memories and More card kitpacks!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I’d love it if you would leave some some comments!

Ronald McDonald House Card Donation

Last week we stayed at Ronald McDonald House Parkville Melbourne.

We were back in Melbourne for brain surgery testing for my 11yo Son.

It’s a long trip from Dalby, Queensland.. this time we flew out from Wellcamp in Toowoomba.. which made the 3am up and off in the car at 3:30am a little better as we only had a 1.5hour drive.. as we were meant to fly out at 6am.. sadly they had problems with our plane and were very accommodating and supportive to everyone’s needs.. transferring us onto another flight but this time to Sydney, then a connecting flight to Melbourne.. instead of our 8:30am arrival we finally graced Melbourne at 2:30pm.. and sadly luke didn’t have the best of flights with seizures and he got really badly flight sick! I was glad we were flying a day early for our appointments and was glad in that time Ronald McDonald House had a room come available during that time! I really had no idea where we were going to end up if we didn’t get this accommodation! We stay here over 2.5 years ago when Luke had his first brain surgery for his epilepsy back on the 20th January 2015!

Working at the Airport sorting customer orders… Love that I can take my work anywhere!

A lot has changed since we stayed.. they have dinner most nights which was perfect after the day we had! I really was only looking for a bath and bed. Totally exhausted we were truly grateful for the beautiful dinner provided. Bed by 8pm we were back up at 6am to head across the road to Melbourne Royal Children’s Hospital by 7:30am.. the weather wasn’t as cold as we expected! It was a big day at the hospital again with a MRI PET scan of Lukes brain. They inject a radiation tracer into him and he had to lay quiet and still for 1/2 hour.. this is very difficult when you are a boy and 11! Oh and so hungry because you have to fast for the GA! Finally by 11am he was in for his scan and I could settle for a big brunch.. and a large long black that I had dreamt about all morning!!

Again once luke was out of GA he was very tired so we again had another quiet afternoon over at RMH. Grateful again for dinner that night.

They give so much. Beautiful rooms with heating and cooling, tv.. and they also provide free laundry facilities along with a huge kitchen. Once we worked out the laundry facilities and the oven we were pretty well set!

With only short walks to the hospital it takes a lot of stress out of your time there.

We stayed 6 nights (was meant to be 10) and Luke’s stay in hospital last week went so well hooked up to the VEEG monitor that we were released after one night.. said to get the results needed he had to have many seizures.. now we wait for the Neurology team to decide when they will operate and how they will go about it! Luke isn’t scared.. I’m sure as time gets closer things will change. I know I’m pretty stressed again about the whole thing! But they are the best!

All wired up, checking on the Meerkats while we wait for a hospital bed to come available…

We have only stayed at Parkville and 2 in Brisbane.. and each time we are blown away by their support! Luke is also part of their school program. They supply 40 hours of tutoring for him and have even helped pay for OT and Speech.
This is why I like to make Beautiful cards for them. They have them available for families to purchase or they use them for fundraising etc!

Before I packed to go to Melbourne I did a free online class with my VIP Customers. We all grabbed our STASH of Washi tape and made a heap of cards using up our Washi tape! It’s something everyone seems to collect but not use!

I turned all my cards into cards for Ronald McDonald House.. here are the cards I made for them!

I’ve decorated each of the cards with currently stamps….. which one do you like?

Organising your craft space- Scrap Cardstock Stash!

I know many struggle to have a craft space that is practical and tidy. I used to have a bag of blues, greens, pinks….. etc of cardstock scraps in a big container.. and what a mess it would get!

Especially when you teach classes and do up card kits! I’d like to say I’m pretty savvy with my cardstock but when you look at my pile of scraps I often wonder if I really am.. or am I just getting better as I get more organised!

When I go to get a class ready I often look at what I do have in my scraps before I actually cut a new piece of cardstock!

Yes I get paid for these classes but in reality you never get your money totally back unless you charge everyone big $$ and send scraps home with them.. I like to keep my classes affordable and have them at the set $$ figure each month so they know what to save for!

How are you keeping your cardstock scraps so you get your money’s worth? Please share in comments below! You can even leave a link for others!

About a year ago I decided to take over our filing cabinet that is connected to my scrapbook table! I bought another filing cabinet off FB and use it to fit the 2 draws of files that use to take up space in my desk and the other 2 I use for all my catalogues, envelopes etc..

but with my desk filling cabinet I have labelled and colour coded each file with my scraps.. each file either contains 1 or 3 different colours.. depending on how much scraps I have.. there are some colours I really need to use more for classes and cards! And I can see that at a quick glance!

I’m yet to do something with my very vanilla and whisper white.. I often wonder if I keep too much of it! I recently went through it all and cut out 3 tins worth of card faces for my up and coming event.. #JosiesCardsForACause2017

I’m sure we will also smash my scrap stash!

Being tidy from the start surely helps with creativity?!?

And why not.. when you see our beautiful new embellishments and papers along with some new memory keeping products.. which I will share in a few more days!!
